"Stepping Stones" stands for the metaphor behind the rehabilitation process for children from birth until they are able to, as far as possible, live independently. Our main focus is to help children with disabilities reach the other side of the imaginary river in order to eventually lead an independent life. For this they have to take "stepping stones" with the support of their parents and healthcare professionals to reach the other side as dry and quickly as possible. In Indonesia, it often happens that "stepping stones" - to get the right/optimal rehabilitation care - are missed or that parents do not know how to cross the river (in other words: how to get the right/optimal rehabilitation care). Therefore, we focus through our metaphors on:• creating "missing stones"• connecting "existing stones"• offering a hand for taking the next "stepping stone"• improving and strengthening "current stones"This applies to all activities of the foundation. We are the road builder and route planner for the treatment of children with disabilities. Stepping Stones Bali is not a treatment center and it is not our ambition to become a treatment center. We do not want to take over het existing activities in this field. It is much more important to connect - and make use of - the available rehabilitation care for children with disabilities. Therefore, it is our ambition to guide, strengthen, and connect the "stones" that already exist. To be able to deliver patient-centered care, it is important that paramedics and medical specialists work together as an interdisciplinary team. We want to achieve this by bringing together (the knowledge, expertise and applicability of) specialist care and therapy, but also by offering seminars, lectures and workshops. Because parents are the key in taking the first step, we mainly focus on them by creating more awareness and understanding of their major position concerning the future of their child.
