Sterio.me engages learners outside the classroom, to reinforce in-classroom learning. A "sterio" is a pre-recorded interactive lesson, delivered via an sms-triggered inbound voice call to the learner, in order to reinforce content. Sterio.me can reach the 18% of the world population who suffer illiteracy and the 60% who remain offline - heavily concentrated in just 20 countries. The Solution is Sterio.me Sterio.me is accessible to learners with a basic phone, without requiring internet access, and also supports SMS lessons, so full reading/writing/listening/speaking pedagogy is offered. Whilst mobile penetration in Africa is over 83% and smartphone penetration is rising, basic phones still very much dominate with 62.7 per cent of the market having GSM-only "basic phones" and the remainder mainly having 2G limited data "feature phones" (27%). More than 60% of the global population remains offline, and by 2017 this will remain at least 50% (1 in 6 Africans use the internet, 2013). To reach the masses, GSM is the only option - not just in the present but in the decades to come. Teachers frequently spend 10-20 hours per week on the homework process. In for example Uganda only 45% of the teaching day is spent teaching. We save teachers significant amounts of time by automating the homework preparation, distribution and marking process. This time can then be spent on teaching. Check out: http://angel.co/sterio-me | http://twitter.com/SterioMe | http://facebook.com/steriodotme Reach out: chris@sterio.me
