Stichting Lend A Hand is a non-profit organization with the main aim to empower people from less fortunate backgrounds by increasing their confidence. This mission is realized on two levels – a tangible and an intangible one. Firstly, our intangible contribution consists of organizing projects wherever support is needed. These consist of sending volunteers to give workshops in South Africa, supporting projects in Rwanda or setting up sport events for young people from primarily disadvantaged backgrounds. We recently expanded our activities by setting up the program "Closer to home", where we support refugees in Europe, like the refugee community in Calais. We aspire to encourage and inspire vulnerable adolescents in particular. Our volunteers set up such projects in the name of Lend A Hand in cooperation with local partner organizations. The second, tangible, pillar of our mission consists of collecting funds with the purpose of sponsoring and supporting our local partner organizations in achieving their objectives. We aim to collect these funds through organizing (in)formal events, which in return aim to educate Dutch students, as well as finding local sponsoring partners.
