Landelijk Programmamanager - Aanpak laaggeletterdheid in gemeenten
The Reading & Writing Foundation (in Dutch: Stichting Lezen & Schrijven) is an initiative of H.R.H. Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands. The foundation was launched on May 27, 2004. Chairman of the foundation is Marja van Bijsterveldt-Vliegenthart. The objective of the foundation is to devote attention to the 1.3 million Dutch citizens who are unable to participate fully within society due to literacy related problems. Therewith, the foundation inspires and gets inspired by initiatives abroad. We aim to encourage debate about this problem and to connect all stakeholders with a role to prevent and reduce illiteracy. The vision of the Reading & Writing Foundation is that literacy is a basic requirement for a healthy and sustainable society. Each individual has the right to acquire good literacy skills, in order to increase participation within society. Societal players like municipalities, social services and public libraries play a crucial role in the access to information, digital access and connectivity and informal learning for socio-economic cohesion, employment and community engagement.
