Waste NO Waste is a four months cultural-social-educational project that will take place in the former Sugar Factory in Groningen. It will take the shape of a multi-disciplinary experimental cultural festival, functioning as a large-scale laboratory with a large group of national and international artists. It aims to become an initiator and connector for the local and wider community of the city of Groningen, building connections and creating a positive social, cultural, educational and ecological impact. At it's heart, the Waste NO Waste Factory project advocates a strong and lasting connection between innovation, sustainability, social impact, honest craftsmen ship and the beauty of natural resources. The project is part of the Leeuwarden European Cultural Capital 2018 project and has the support of platform NL 2025, a group of influential ceo's, artists and scientist striving for a better and more sustainable future for The Netherlands.Waste No Waste Factory project is initiated by Claudy Jongstra and it intended to be a catalyst for social and cultural change. In the project Jongstra invites, connects and inspires other artists, both national and international, with a vision that breaches the definitions of art or design. All invited artists work within a shared vision for a sustainable future, creating a better world with a "pay it forward" mentality.
