Story is a tri-annual print publication devoted to the complex and diverse world of short fiction. Writers whose work appeared in Story include Nelson Algren, Sherwood Anderson, John Cheever, Truman Capote, Mary O'Hara, Carson McCullers, Norman Mailer, Anais Nin, William Saroyan, and Richard Wright. Since 1931, work that originally appeared in Story has been reprinted dozens of times in editions of The Best American Short Stories, The Pushcart Prize, and The O. Henry Prize Stories.Each current issue features the work of an Ohio artist on its cover and writing Today, the triannual magazine publishes in February, June, and November. Story has consistently been one of the first to publish writers who have later been awarded literary honors such as the National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the PEN/Hemingway Award, and received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and the Guggenheim Foundation. Story is a proud member of the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses, and is grateful for the support of the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the Ohio Arts Council and, of course, its devoted readers.
