I create art that is sometimes functional, sometimes not. And all the work is interesting because I base a piece on some idea, event or 'thing' I've encountered. 'Anachoic' is a good example, as it comes from the way anachoic chambers are completely covered on all six walls, with cones of foam to absorb radio frequency emissions from radar. These chambers are used to measure output power of radar. I used cedar garden stakes for this piece.I am working on a scape of New York City's Lower Manhattan now. The perspective will be from the air, from south of Lower Manhattan. My work will be publicly displayed for the first time in May at a business in the San Francisco bay area. That will be exciting. IT will be fun to find out what the public thinks of these pieces.Interest in the universe has motivated me to do some interesting pieces. I did the 'Big Bang', a piece representing the birth of our universe 13.7 billion years ago. I followed that with 'Evolution of Our Universe', which shows my interpretation of the growth of the universe at about 2.75 billion year intervals, up to and including our current universe. Then I did 'Collision of Andromeda and The Milky Way', a mobile depicting the impact of these two spiral galaxies. This impact is expected to happen in about 4 billion years. Don't make any plans to see it though.Used to sell these scapes at the Santa Barbara Sunday Sidewalk Sale in 1977.
