Straw Works is an architectural design and consultancy company, specialising in the use of natural materials for all buildings, with no cement at all and almost no plastic. We design with several techniques including pre-fab modular panels of straw (very fast!) loadbearing (great for self-builders) and infill/frame straw methods. Through our sister organisation the School of Natural Building we also offer training, and support to the construction industry, professionals, individuals, schools and communities. Our designs are honestly sustainable, zero net carbon and with low embodied energy. We design what is enough, and no more than that, keeping designs simple and durable - our buildings can last more than 200 years and are similar to heritage buildings in their choice of and use of materials. We are located in Todmorden and Totnes, United Kingdom.
