Striped Sail was born in February 2010, inspired by Wired's cover story, "In the Next Industrial Revolution, Atoms Are the New Bits" and the announcement of Apple's first iPad. Striped Sail was focused on creating sophisticated and modern styled environmentally accountable accessories for Apple's mobile products. The company's first product was miFrame for iPad, a traditional 8x10 picture frame with a digital twist - a 30 pin dock connector for iPad that transformed iPad into a digital picture frame. Striped Sail was funded by Serra Ventures' Serra Capital I, L.P. and was located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The company ceased operations in 2013.
