Summerhill Democratics is a non-profit dedicated to promoting democratic education on the Summerhill model.We work with schools and individuals as consultants, speakers, promoters of projects, trainers and writers. We engage people in the work that we are doing with the aim of promoting democratic education. We want to see more schools using Summerhill experience and expertise. All of the full members of the association have direct experience working at the school. Associate members and friends help the work of the Association by spreading good practice worldwide.Our work with schools is international, although we are based in the European Union. We are interested in overcoming some of the administrative and bureaucratic hurdles that stand in the way of opening up education for young people. To this end we promote communication among existing school leaders and teachers to share good practice and assist the work of new school founders who are struggling to implant democratic principles in their schools.We also operate a summer camp, the purpose of which is to give a wider range of young people the opportunity to experience the key features of freedom, responsibility, decision-making and fun that comprise a Summerhill education.
