Sun d'Or was incorporated on October 1, 1977 as an EL AL subsidiary, called "EL AL Charter Services Ltd." Four years later we changed our name to "Sun d'Or, International Airlines Ltd.". The name combines the English word "sun" with the French "d'or" of gold – thus, Golden Sun.We are a company that markets charter, Scheduled, Seasonal and ad hoc flights.We based at Ben-Gurion Airport and are wholly owned subsidiary of EL AL. The connection to EL AL is reflected among others in our aircraft maintenance and in-service on the ground and in the air, which are provided by EL AL staff. EL AL's Matmid Frequent Flyer Club is another area that links us to EL AL. We have grown and grown and made the company a significant player in Israel‘s charter flight market. We are proud that, among our other achievements, we operate flights for incoming tourism to Israel.The Company TodayToday Sun d'Or operates flights to about 40 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean Basin. Branding and MarketingIn 2009, as part of a re-branding process, it was decided to link Sun d'Or with the vacation concept. Using the ‘Follow the Sun' brand promise, the idea was to position Sun d'Or as a company that experts in vacation , where the vacation experience begins the moment you enter the airplane. Our creative concept focused on changing the image of the flight from a functional experience to a fun experience, using light, friendly text to support the branding. By the way, if you're wondering about the chirpy chick flying frenetically around the world, having a ball and appearing in advertisements, this is the moment to introduce Sunny. The sun on which the brand is based inspired the creation of this character who appears in various elements in the brand language accompanied by illustrations and witty copy suited to the company's various destinations.
