40 to 50% of food is wasted in the United States every year, and 30% of our landfill space is filled with organic material. Americans throw away 68 million tons of organic material per year; the single largest component that makes it into our landfills and in turn produces methane gases. It is fair to say that we have a food waste problem in this country. Sunshine Organics & Compost is here to do our part in Northeast Florida. Sunshine Organics accepts food waste, yard waste, and other organic material and turns it back into high end compost. Organic compost enriches our natural soil to replenish it and retain moisture, along with producing natural microbes that strengthen the roots of plants and trees naturally; reducing the need for fertilizers, all while producing no methane emissions. From restaurants to grocery stores to large retail centers to food manufacturers, there are an abundance of customers that can help contribute to our goals. We offer curbside pickup in wheeled toters for smaller restaurants and businesses, or self-contained compactor units and full trailers for larger operations.
