In 2014, the mayor of Barcelona challenged cities to produce everything they consume by 2054. Despite manufacturing robots becoming more agile, it will not happen because, turning ideas into machine code executable by 3D printers or manufacturing robots is, as of now, an expensive manual process. Each design for each machine requires its custom-made code. SuperNow is developing an online tool that automatically converts design files into machine code and streams it to the machine of the nearest local business. This digitalized process makes it cheaper to manufacture products locally than to import them.
