There are millions of meetings taking place in the corporate world every day. According to an estimate, 11 million formal meetings per day in the United States. There is also a broad consensus that majority of these meetings are waste of time. 3 factors (i.e., cognitive biases) impact most of the traditional meetings: anchoring effect, halo effect, and Group thinking. These biases also ruined the reputation of once-popular brain storming sessions. Current set up of traditional meeting also does not emphasize individual critical thinking. Most of the participants don't like speaking up their mind for various reasons. At the same time, there is no tool available to combat these invisible biases, and allow individuals to maximize their thoughts, ideas, and feedback. We wanted to build a tool that meets the following requirements: 1. Emphasize, and encourage individual critical thinking. 2. Reduce or eliminate the 3 common biases that degrade the effectiveness of a typical meeting: anchoring and halo effect, group thinking. 3. Allow people to express their constructive (but may be unpopular) opinion without undue fear & stress. Essentially this tool needs to separate the personalities from feedback, and let the feedback stand on its own merit. 4. Allow people to prioritize feedback from the team by polling. 5. Flexible so that it's relevant to topic of the meeting. 6. Make meeting more effective without changing the format radically. 7. Simple. Our product Idopian is a simple, but powerful tool to flip the traditional meeting.
