Susquehanna Heritage is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and Pennsylvania Heritage Area working to advance our vision for the Susquehanna Riverlands as a nationally recognized destination for outdoor fun and cultural discovery. We develop and implement placemaking and tourism development projects that connect people to the Susquehanna River and its history, enhance the quality and appeal of the river's special places and landscapes, and increase the visibility and readiness of the river as a visitor destination.Susquehanna Heritage owns, manages, and is based at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage, on the Susquehanna River south of Wrightsville, PA, an historic 1740's homestead featuring house tours, river art and history programs and exhibits, waterfront pavilion, visitor boat dock, kayak launch, and land and water trailheads. The Zimmerman Center is designated by the National Park Service as an official Visitor Contact Station for the CAptain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail. We also manage the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, a new river heritage, education and recreation facility and trailhead on the riverfront of Columbia, PA, a historic river town. We are part of Pennsylvania's statewide network of twelve officially designated Heritage Areas and are working towards designation by the United States Congress as a National Heritage Area.
