Sustainable Development Capital LLC is a small private equity fund focused on providing capital to high-potential entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa. SDC targets businesses with funding needs that cannot be met by local lenders, and looks to develop the capital structure which best suits each individual investee. After making an investment, SDC takes an active role in the management of its portfolio companies, providing not only the capital required for sustainable growth but also the operational and strategic support necessary for long-term success.In addition to pursuing risk-adjusted returns for investors, SDC seeks to foster economic development and reduce poverty. By supplying funding that mobilizes underutilized human capital and natural resources, we believe we can have a strong social impact without sacrificing financial returns.Through contacts in our region of focus, including Business Advisors at TechnoServe Inc, an international NGO which facilitates private sector development in emerging economies, SDC has unique access to a variety of deal opportunities in the developing world. As of mid-2009, SDC has completed two initial investments in Swaziland and is exploring further opportunities.
