The Sustainable Water Council (SWC) is a standards body that issues membership certification to businesses that meet its Standard for Sustainable Water Practice. The SWC Standard is the first water sustainability standard of its kind developed for consumer products and businesses of all types and sizes.Membership is voluntary and evidences members' commitment to save water and contribute to the advancement and sharing of sustainable business practices. Members are allowed to carry the SWC logo on their product or business collateral, indicating their commitment to a water sustainable future. The SWC was formed with the intention of fundamentally changing the way business approaches and implements solutions to water sustainability challenges. This is achieved by creating a strong business case for water conservation. Following a credible outcomes based evaluation methodology ensures that members are held accountable for the implementation of improved water management and water efficiency measures.The Standard was refined for several years with input from various experts including sustainability scientists, chartered accountants, compliance and risk specialists, legal experts, and marketing professionals. This ensures that it is based on a holistic approach that is beneficial to business, consumers, our communities and the environment.
