SW8 was founded by Matt Skipp in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis to provide clients with an investment solution that can preserve and grow capital without exposing them to excessive risk. Matt is passionate about absolute returns and believes portfolios need to be actively managed to prosper in sideways or volatile markets. As lead portfolio manage, Matt has more than 20 years of experience investing both long and short in North American equity markets. This experience gives him the right background to manage a hedge fund focused on absolute returns, risk management and downside protection. Prior to founding SW8, Matt held senior positions for RBC Capital Markets and Blackmont Capital focused on trading significant firm capital.
