In 2018, Cornell graduate Yoshi Yui approached some guy named Kai Hellberg he met on Facebook. From there, he asked if they should make a satire publication based on music. They agreed. Since then, they tried to make a site called Complicated Media, but then they realized they could get sued by Complex Media. So they changed the name to Swallow Media. Since then, Yui and Hellberg have grown the website to a viewership of 30 thousand people across the globe, sharing hilarious stories about music personalities such as Kanye West, J. Cole, Cardi B and more. And since we accept submissions from readers, we hope we can democratize satirical news writing and form a strong community around it.
