Ramblings About Swede's Cafe"Swede" was my Dad, Harvey A. Hicks Jr. He was born in 1943 and raised in Duluth, MN, where many "Scandahoovians" settled. He served in the US Navy from 1962-66 as a Shop Keeper 2nd Class. He was an awesome carpenter and builder and had a keen eye for detail. His picture is next to the acronym "OCD" in the dictionary. He died of cancer in 2015.He would've liked this little restaurant that Beth and I started because he loved yummy food. The Pork Pork Sandwich and The Yummers were borne from a couple of his Swedisms, though many others aren't appropriate for use as names of any more menu items, let alone spoken in public!I would have finished building this café more quickly if he had been around to tell me to "get back to work" and that "can't never did anything"! I tried to make it as though he would walk in and inspect it!Our hope is that you enjoy this little restaurant and the yummy food we serve!
