Sweetwater was established in 1976 by Jim and Diane Skiba. If you aren't familiar with the area we are located one block from the ocean in the middle of downtown W.B. Our town, Wrightsville Beach, has been named one of the top ten surf towns in the U.S. by Surfer Magazine.We at Sweetwater are very proud to be recognized globally by the surfing industry and surfing population. In 1995, the shop was bought by Chuck Bourgeois and family. Anyone who surfs has heard of Chuck's son, Ben Bourgeois, who is a world class pro surfer on the ASP-WQS and twice on the ASP-WCT. Ben has brought worldwide attention to Wrightsville Beach with his powerful surfing ability and his respectful hometown attitude. Ben opened the door for many young surfers in our community. They are taking advantage of opportunities that would have never been available if it wasn't for Benny Boy setting the standard and raising the bar. In the shop we have the same hometown attitude. We love what we do and we take pride in giving our customers the best selection, service, and prices in town. Go ahead and shop around because we know you will end up back at Sweetwater. Shop managers Spencer Lem and Chuck's twin daughters Shana and Danielle make sure that Sweetwater is stocked full of the best brands and current up to date styles.
