"As a young, globalised generation, we will experience the impact of todays decisions in climate politics. Thus, we - the young - have the right as well as the obligation to be part of the discussions and negotiations, to be heard and to be informed."Swiss Youth for Climate was founded in 2015 as a politically independent association. While there are youth organisations dedicated to climate policy in many countries already, such a specific organisation was missing in Switzerland. In her role as a representative of the Swiss youth to the UN (YouthReP), Océane Dayer decided to launch such an organisation together with a few motivated colleagues. The idea of such an organisation was catching on quickly. Already in its early days, the association was able to build up a wide network in Switzerland and abroad.Our goals:- Commit ourselves to pragmatic and responsible climate policies both at national and international level.- Raise awareness amongst young people about climate issues as well as of the importance of local and global actions. Inform them directly about the status of the ongoing negotiations.- Take part in the Conferences of the Parties (COP) as Swiss civil society representatives.- Collaborate with young people from around the world and lay the foundations for a global mobilization around the urgency of tackling climate change.
