Community Interest CompanyProviding affordable meals in community rooms of independent living communities (sheltered housing for the elderly) in the City of Nottingham.Our food is donated by Fareshare, and the Co-Op, We are dependent on volunteers for preparing, cooking and serving our meals.We provide social dining at an affordable price. Social dining is bringing people together to have a meal. We provide cooked 2 course meals for just £3. The benefits social dining have on local communities are improving health and wellbeing, while addressing loneliness and social isolation.Sycamore Dining volunteers prepare and cook meals in our commercial kitchen (provided by Nottingham City Homes) in the Beechdale area of Nottingham every Wednesday and every Friday. We serve our meals at this location every time we cook, and also transport our food to at least one other City location, to provide social dining in other community rooms. Our social dining events are generally held once a month at each location. For example on the third Wednesday of each month we serve in the Top Valley area.To attain our aspirations of providing social dining every day of the week, we need to find funding to enable us to operate on more than two days a week, and find more volunteers. Our aim is to have teams of volunteers for each day of the week. Our next phase of growth is to deliver to two community rooms each time we cook. In our first quarter of operating we provided over 1200 meals. Our growth rate continues to be significant. We are looking at providing social dining to more retirement living operators, and are in discussions with Nottingham City Council Social Care, and hope to get involved with Social Prescribing.Companies wishing to do more with there community policies can help, with both funding the project, and providing volunteers.
