Syclus' ambition is to become a leading producer for 100% biobased and fully circular raw materials, starting with bio-ethylene. These will be used for making plastics and offer society an alternative to oil and gas based plastics and hard to recycle bio plastics. Plastics made from Syclus bio-ethylene even have a negative carbon-footprint at use.Already now a significant reduction of carbons emissions can be achieved by producing bio based ethylene. This is true for the production of ethylene (Scope 1) and for end of life of ethylene based plastics (Scope 3). In Europe energy recovery is the end for the majority plastics. We do not use plant oil based or wood and forestry based feed-stocks for the process employed. Syclus will use bio ethanol, a commodity already used in large volumes as a bio fuel for use in petrol engines (E 10). We offer a new market to bio ethanol at the time that its use in fuels is declining, due to rising electric vehicle use. Bio ethanol can be made from various agricultural feed-stocks. This means that the plastics made from bio ethylene are made from atmospheric CO2, captured by plants, shortly before these are used in packaging, building materials, automotive applications, paints, adhesives, clothing and many more products essential for modern society. Bio ethanol to ethylene provides a fast, secure, affordable, sustainable and impactful option to make plastics compatible with society's continued use of plastics and its ambition for net zero green house gas emissions and increased recycling. The beauty of this solution: it can be done now and it can be done at scale. We do not have to invent and test new materials; ethylene based plastics have been around for more than 70 years. We also do not have to re-invent new recycling options. We provide a drop in solution and do not have to build new polymer and compounding plants. We can make use of proven and existing technologies to make plastics sustainable. Today
