Syncho is a small highly specialised research enterprise focused on the management of complexity. It uses the ideas, models and tools of organisational cybernetics. It was created by Professor Raul Espejo in 1985 and has worked in this field ever since. Professor Espejo has developed the VIPLAN Method and VIPLAN Methodology to support the application of Stafford Beer's Viable System Model. Professor Stafford Beer was Syncho's Chairman from 1985 to 2000.Over the past decade Syncho's work has focused on two research themes, firstly, on the application of information and communication technologies in organisations and secondly, on transparency issues in decision-making. Currently, we are developing further the ideas of variety engineering and enterprise complexity management in the network society. To disseminate these ideas we are running an online training programme.
