Waste processing is already a significant source of renewable energy in many countries around the world. Potential exists for the development of renewable energy sources which can be exploited from municipal solid waste (MSW) as well as from wastes generated from agri-business and wastewater treatment.There are a number of new and emerging technologies that are able to produce energy from waste and other fuels without direct combustion. For example: Thermal technologies such as Pyrolysis and Gasification.Waste to Energy could contribute efficiently to achieving renewable energy targets, ensuring security of energy supply as well as providing an effective technology of dealing successfully with MSW-handling problem, which has escalated to enormous proportions in the last few years in Tanger Morocco.Let's analyze the garbage dump of Tanger Mghogha Landfill which receives almost 1 million tonnes per year of garbage. By using Waste to Energy Technology through Pyrolyis process, one tonne of waste could generate, depending on the calorific value MJ/kg, the same quantity of energy as burning 0.2 tonnes of fossil fuel (a power plant of 300 MW consumes almost 350 000 tonnes of fossil fuel per annum).Therefor, we can assume that some answers to the questions above, could be found in setting up a power plant deploying Japanese Waste To Energy (WtE) Technology through Pyrolysis Process in Tanger Landfill Morocco.
