Textiles - Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya
The three main problems Kenya is facing today are - poverty, unemployment, and plastic waste. Enormous piles of plastic trash lie throughout Kenya and are harming the agriculture and tourism industry. Millions of kilograms of plastic waste is generated each year most of that is in the form of plastic bottles, which Kenyans discard on the roads, fields, beaches and lakes causing serious environmental problems. With our vision to find sustainable solutions to global problems, we wish to create jobs for impoverished people alleviating poverty and simultaneously address an environmental problem. We will capitalise on the opportunities in the recycled resin and manufacture yarn and textile engineered from 100% post-consumer beverage and water bottles sourced, processed and spun into yarn exclusively made in Kenya. We will be the first of its kind with a unique transparent supply chain. This project offers a sustainable solution that reduces environmental impacts within the industry by converting waste into recycled product equal in quality to the original yarn, thread and textile. This will have remarkable savings in terms of energy and water in textile manufacturing hence providing a holistic approach to this national problem.T3 is setting up a Recycled PET (rPET) textile plant located in Athi River, Kenya where we will utilise post-consumer plastic collected all over Kenya and East Africa. The Company will be vertically integrated and use almost all of its recycled material in yarn and textile manufacturing
