TAARACH® is a Latin American brand inspired by the folklore, passion and the culture of its indigenous people, that rescues and spreads textile traditions and handmade techniques. Winner of the Accesories Council Design Excellence Award 2020 on Social Impact.We believe that each product that becomes part of our lives brings more than just a look. It reveals who we are, makes us unique, comes with a history, an energy and generates impact. TAARACH® produces unique products in small quantities. We design our belts out of one of the most timeless elements of the typical costume from the Andean communities: the "faja". Ethnic groups use fajas as a decorative or mythical element; to show status, power, elegance and for medical purposes. Fajas are a lifetime garment that remains with people forever. After the first usage, indigenous wear the fajas daily, when the fajas become too old to be part of their attire, indigenous use them to carry equipment or to hold supplies. All our fajas are handmade in wooden looms by artisans from the Ecuadorian highlands. TAARACH® stands for transparency, ethics and the wellbeing of people above anything else. We generate a positive impact in our artisan's community. We pay them fair wages for their crafts and motivate families to preserve traditional techniques, allowing a more sustainable livelihood to our artisan partners and their families.We give back to communities by our ONE 1 ONE program, which provides one lunch to one child in need for one month per each belt we sell. We partner with educational foundations to assure that indigenous children in rural schools received their lunch which helps them learn better, concentrate and play. We focus in rural areas because we want to mitigate the migration and fight against poverty. Maintaining traditional textiles alive is also a way to support social good and reduce migration to big cities; and restore cultural dignity and pride to these small communities.
