Architecture Firm/Engineering Firm - New York, NY, US
Table of Contents operates both a multivalent design practice (TOC Studio) and a series of physical explorations of the concept of a "store." TOC Studio develops spatial concepts, furniture, brand campaigns, and cultural partnerships for clients such as Nike, Fila, Uniqlo, Calvin Klein, Bloc Studios, Art Agency Partners/Sotheby's, and Pace Gallery's Super Blue art space. TOC Studio also sources and deals in collectible design objects and furniture. Table of Contents is driven by an ongoing exploration of the notion of a "store"—both as an archive and as a site for cultural exchange—and has become known for its research-based presentations of minor narratives in material culture. These explorations have included a restaging of the 1989 Meta Memphis exhibition at Palazzo Querini Stampalia that "nobody saw," the exclusive sale of BW Sport shoes and their derivatives, and research on the nebulous origins of the black and white cookie.
