Taiyuan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Subco. is the largest enterprise for producing blocks of castings and forgings in North China. The building area is over 100,000m2 and the shop building area 70,000m2. It has convenient facility for both highway and railway transportation. It is equipped with 15t electric arc furnace, 30t (EPT) electric arc furnace with super-high power and eccentrically bottom tapping, 2 sets of 40t ladle refining furnaces, 25tVD+VOD furnace, 60t casting chamber for pouring ingot vacuumed, resin sand molding equipment, 100t sand blasting chamber, 4500t hydraulic press, various kinds of vertical lathes and deep-hole drilling machines and so on. It produces different kinds of steel castings with the gross weight less than 190t, such as mill housing, bearing housing, castings used for heavy duty press, crawler frame, dipper front part, dipper back part, crawler shoes, cylinder body, HP/MP valve body and slag pot; different kinds of forgings with the weight less than 40t, mainly including forgings used for power station (rotor below 50MW, main shaft for wind turbine below 5MW and other shaft type forgings, guard ring and impeller and so on), marine forgings (crank shaft blank, output shaft and so on), gear forgings (gear blank, gear shaft blank, gear ring and so on), series lifting hooks (single hook, double hook below 250t). For 50 years it has provided with the key projects of the state and the basic industry such as electric power, chemical, marine, communication, energy source, metallurgical and military industries with a large amount of high quality casting and forging products, making a great contribution to the national economic construction.
