Tangent Electric designs and builds Portable USB chargers that supply portable backup battery power to enable cell phones, portable games and scientific instruments that require a 5 volt DC source to run for extended periods of time or to use them as an emergency backup source of power in harsh environments. The Fallout, line of rugged, solar ready, waterproof portable chargers is expected to reach the consumer mid fall of 2013. These units can be charged from an input voltage of 4VDC – 30VDC at 1500mA and can handle up to 2.7A output at 5VDC through a single USB with a lithium polymer battery capacity of 7800mA. The Fallout brand of portable chargers have a more flexible input for stabilization of solar voltages and are waterproof to IP68 (submergible) and built extra rugged and housed in a metal case that is EMP and EMF proof. All these portable power units can be charged from a wall outlet with a wall adapter that comes with the units and can be charged from multiple sources like bicycle dynamos, generators, solar panels, 12V car batteries, 6V motorcycle batteries etc as long as the voltage falls within the specifications.
