Tara Trust is a registered non-profit organization based in Goa which was established in 2008 with the mission to empower, educate and enable marginalized groups (including children from disadvantaged backgrounds, people with disabilities, women and minorities) to improve their lives through in depth engagement with the arts. We work closely with over ten partner institutions (schools, institutional care homes) across Goa to develop essential life skills through art, theatre, music and movement. Our projects include:• Art for Life Skills Weekly Workshops in schools that serve disadvantaged children Skills addressed: problem solving, creativity, collaboration, gender sensitivity, citizenship• Art Builds BridgesHoliday camps for children across different institutions to engage in collaborative projects Workshops for children with special needs• Art for Environmental EducationProjects on locally relevant environmental issues (water conservation, unchecked tourism)• Art HealsEmotional Engagement and Support for Vulnerable ChildrenArt workshops in institutional care homes for children in short or long term foster careApart from that we are working on skill development and income generation projects with clusters of women from economically vulnerable communities in Goa.These workshops help us bring women from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds together and help in nurturing and promoting their skills, creative abilities, and confidence. Depending on the group's skill levels, we conduct training sessions with the aim of developing a collection of products.
