Tarz Group is an ensemble of classically trained musicians presenting the rich heritage of South Asian music by experimenting with newer modes of performance and presentation. Lead by music director and tabla player, Yousuf Kerai, Tarz Group is a platform for artists to learn and collaborate with each other to produce original music. With senior artists such as sitar maestro, Ustad Sajid Hussain and tabla virtuoso, Ustad Khurshid Hussain, Tarz Group provides opportunities for young, upcoming talent, to learn from and work with master musicians in an ensemble setting. Hence, allowing for the much needed transference of this musical heritage to the next generation of musicians.Simultaneously, Tarz Group is also initiating projects for educating young artists above and beyond music. Many young and talented artists of Pakistan are met with financial struggles that leaves them with barely enough to put food on the table. Many artists cannot even afford to get their own instruments repaired, let alone buy new ones. Tarz Group aims to assist musicians by empowering them through education and by providing them opportunities to work together to build a sustainable future for themselves.
