TASHAROC is a two-year project based in Tangier and is funded by the funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The purpose of TASHAROC project is to support implementation of Morocco's regionalisation process in the northern region of Tanger-Tétouan and Al Hoceïma (TTAH), through improving relations and trust between the citizens and the Regional Council. In its first phase, it was structured around the following three key areas:1) Strengthening both targeted regional governmental bodies to be more capable, accountable and responsive, and civil society to be more engaged; 2) Reforming mechanisms and convening opportunities for more effective dialogue and collaborative working between regional stakeholders (government institutions, civil society, media, private sector and citizens); and 3) Supporting Regional Council communications to increase the information flow between the targeted regional actors. Following the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, TASHAROC has moved on to a second phase, reorienting its technical support to help the Regional Council during these times; and contribute to the national and regional efforts aiming to curb the economic and social impacts caused by the pandemic.
