ICOMOS Panama is the Panamanian national committee of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). Started in 1989, ICOMOS Panama carries out actions in favor of the protection and conservation of the cultural heritage; its membership is multidisciplinary and includes professionals from Architecture, Archeology, Education, among other disciplines. Its objectives are to promote study and favor the conservation of monuments and sites; and to awaken and develop the interest of the people of Panama for their monuments, sites and in general for their cultural heritage, including especially those covered by the UNESCO Convention on World Cultural and Natural Heritage, as well as to support the proper preservation of cultural properties protected by the UNESCO Cultural Conventions.
