My Grandfather was the man I first saw carrying a camera as an extension of himself. His bottom dresser drawer was filled with lenses and colored filters and every time I peered inside his huge treasure chest I would see all the pieces of his passion waiting to be picked up and used to make magic happen. If its possible to capture the spirit of a person in a photo well he had that gift and as I grew up I started to recognize what "having an eye" meant and how he sewed with his lens a tapestry of stories that stuck on the pages of a huge leather bound album that encased the memories of decades of "us".I was given that same gift but didn't recognize the itch I had to pick up a camera until I was sixteen, but as soon as I had that film camera in my hand I instinctively began to see beyond the face I was shooting and saw the story behind the eyes and the depth of humanity and beauty that can only be described as spirit. I was lucky to learn before the digital era and spent a few years in the luxury of a huge dark room with an unlimited supply of film to play with, the assignments I worked on really taught me to think deeply with my imagination and scope out the full breadth of an idea until it came to fruition when the shutter closed and my breath was caught in that moment of presence. I'm a multi disciplinary artist with a focus on wedding portraits and headshots, I have been given the vision of shooting so much more than just a portrait. I'm atuned to seeing "you" and however long it takes, I will help you come forth and I will shoot, and there you will be. If you are reading this very honest essay on how I got to where I am, then I hope we can meet and talk and I will have the chance to partner with you on this step of your journey. Taking the leap is the hardest part...the rest you can entrust to me.
