Teach My Kid to Read (TMKTR) is a new non-profit poised to create an impact so that more people have the tools to identify and help children with dyslexia, and without, learn to read. Through advocacy and programming that builds awareness and educates, TMKTR will demonstrate how more community awareness about dyslexia and best practices in literacy influence educational change. A working board and advisors govern TMKTR, and an Executive Director leads the organization. Collaborators and volunteers help with programming capacity. Mission StatementOur mission is to provide parents, educators, and anyone interested in literacy education with the tools to help all children, including those with dyslexia, learn to read. ValuesCreating a better world for all readers one-step-at-a-time: Inclusion, diversity, education, excellenceVision StatementTeachers, parents, students, and other people in the community understand and know how to help all kids learn to read with the right instruction. The kids that struggle the most are identified in pre-K and provided with interventions that enable them to get on the most effective path as quickly as possible. AI and other unimaginable, but research-based solutions become woven into education to help all and each student succeed.Through programming, advocacy and collaborations, TMKTR is committed to creating awareness, and educating more people to identify kids at risk of reading issues, and providing the essential tools to help all kids learn to read before they fail. A core value at TMKTR is inclusion, and that value guides us to focus our strategies on public librarians, parents, students as well as teachers so that anyone willing to help has the tools to help kids with dyslexia and without learn to read. TMKTR's programming includes The Road to Decode, to bring awareness and education to libraries, bookstores, and early childhood centers and a media program to support all programming.
