Team Freedom started in 1997, as a small group of runners who decided to run the Spring Lake Five in Spring Lake, N.J. The race, held every Memorial Day Weekend, was named the second most beautiful 5 mile course in the U.S by Runner's World, number one being in Hawaii.Team Freedom has a simple yet important mission: Remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. In order to accomplish our mission, we all wear the same patriotic shirt during the race and raise money for a veterans-related charity. Over the 21 years of running, we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for various charities.
