Prometheans is the official off road racing team of Thiagarajar College of engineering, formed with an aim of bringing together talent and hard work. We brought together those who were inclined towards learning and implementing what was learnt with zeal and passion. We knew that there was no turning back, ever since we were formed in 2015 by the ever zealous Mechanical Engineering students of TCE. The team has been and always will be a forum for free exchange of ideas, for those interested in automobiles.We annually design, build and race an off-road vehicle to compete in the Competitions like Enduro Student India , Baja SAE INDIA and MegaATV Championship which involves several challenging phases.The roll cage and sub-assemblies are modeled and analysed using various CAD and analysis software based on calculation of impacts and forces.Then numerous iterations are gone through and the individual components are optimized for maximum strength at the lightest weight possible.We employ a multitude of value added processes like cutting, grinding, drilling , and welding and utilize the advanced manufacturing facilities available in our college in-order to manufacture the components designed by us.We assemble our work with the mechanical joints and welding works to give the final structure to the vehicle. Endurance is judged through the various tests under extreme conditions, we try to make it immune to failures and breakdowns.
