Technik-Plus Sämaschinen e.U. - Carbon Farming Technology from AustriaTechnik-Plus develops and sells air-seeders, planters and cultivators for minimum tillage and no-till applications in tropical and subtropical countries in Africa, Latin America, Oceania and Asia. Moreover, Technik-Plus has also developed a cutting-edge Carbon Farming-technology, as Plus in their name stands for sustainable and gently mechanized farming with a strong commitment to soil conservation! For this very reason, beside their market-leading pneumatic air-seeders they also construct exhaust emissions farming-systems, more specifically, they blow the carbon emissions of the tractor's exhaust pipe into the soil while seeding or tilling. This practice doesn't only reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere, but also boosts plants growth significantly, as the Hydrocarbons (HC), which are contained in the exhaust emissions, activate microbial soil activity (hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria) and in spite of a higher N (Nitrogen) and Carbon availability, those microorganisms' metabolism fosters a stronger plant development too, as it provides soil bound nutrients and WATER! Furthermore, it has also shown an eradication of chemical residues and a fungicidal effect on the soil, thus reducing the onslaught of fungus and fungus-resistant weeds (Rumex sp.) too. This also reduces the need for chemical fertilizers and irrigation considerably and has shown remarkable results in both tropical and sub-tropical soils. Field trials in semi-arid as well as dry sub-humid regions clearly indicate that the crop plants use the HC, N and CO2 sources of the exhaust gas especially during early growth stages. Hence, any further soil treatment is often not necessary anymore. This method is therefore an indispensable asset to farming in climate-affected regions across the Global South as well - Conservation Farming & Climate Smart Agriculture!
