TEDDY European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Research is the first European network, funded in 2005 under the European Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), devoted to promoting children-tailored medicine and guaranteeing children's rights and well-being. It is a multidisciplinary scientific organization, including partners from 20 countries (EU and non-EU), that addresses ethical, legal, social, regulatory, and methodological issues of paediatric research and is engaged in children empowerment.TEDDY is strongly proactive in children education and empowerment activities and promotes information/advisory initiatives specifically devoted to children as well as adequate health policies, contributing to raise a social awareness on the importance of the paediatric medicines across Europe.To increase awareness on the topics of paediatric research and to encourage the participation of children in decisions regarding their health, TEDDY developed age tailored informative and educational tools, contributing to children/patients' empowerment. TEDDY is actively promoting advisory initiatives and the creation of Young Persons Advisory Groups (YPAGs) all over Europe. TEDDY Chair, Annagrazia Altavilla, is consultant/expert of the Council of Europe (COE), Bioethics Unit, within the COE Strategic Action Plan on human rights and technologies in biomedicine (2020-2025) for children rights in biomedical field. TEDDY strongly supports COE initiatives.
