TEDxSciencesPoCM is an NGO, which organizes yearly-held conferences with inspiring, thought-provoking talks by a variety of speakers from different fields. In between talks, guests will be able to network with each other and be part of many side events and artistic performances.Last year, our conference focused on the theme "Dare to Know" and looked at the widening gap between Europe and the Middle East. Speakers from both regions challenged common perspectives and outlined the hidden beauty of both cultures and how future interaction can be more fruitful and more productive. We offered ideas and insights that moved beyond the common stereotypes. Artists, explorers, entrepreneurs, clerics, and students presented their solution to common problems and engaged in a meaningful conversation. Thus, with about 300 spectators, 20 speakers, and 3 side events we hope to have impacted the flow of innovative ideas and stories from different disciplines that deserve to be heard - and ultimately, provided the audience with new perspectives and enriched our currently held visions and beliefs.This year, our conference will focus on the theme "Walls and Shadows" and try to study this complex metaphor as walls can both protect and limit, and shadows can nurture and obstruct. Our event will thus be dedicated to speeches which find light, break down walls, but also preserve history and find community in our shadows.
