In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)TEDxUniversityofAkron began with the inspiration of two students – Samantha Bowles and Megan Shaw - who wanted to share the TEDx experience with their campus community. The duo teamed up and undertook this vision as their "Leadership Experience Project" with the Institute for Leadership Advancement in the College of Business at the University of Akron. The University's first official TEDx event is set for Friday, April 11th in the Goodyear Auditorium of the Polymer Sciences building on the main UAkron campus, a perfect tribute to the spirit of energy and innovation that is the heart of our campus.
