Teenwise is an organisation that is made up of young people from around the UK. We are based online and we dedicate ourselves creating a positive image for young people. Teenagers are good people, if you watch TV, read newspapers or listen to the radio you will hear something negative about teenagers. It comes across that all teenagers are bad. The media portrays all teenagers negatively. 9/10 articles about teenagers is negative (Research from Think-tank). Teenagers are often descried as rebellious, lazy, irresponsible, crime addicts and ‘mall rats'. At Teenwise we strongly believe that young people are getting portrayed negatively in the media. We know that teenagers aren't what media portray teenagers as every year more young people are taking up volunteering, helping in their local area and are being more socially active than ever before. Teenwise was founded because we believe that young people are represented negatively in the media and we want to do something about that. Founded in 2012, we have created a website (www.teenwise.org.uk). Our website is the only website in the UK that is dedicated to positive youth stories. We are, 'The Voice of Youth'.
