TeleCuraçao went on the air for the first time on July 31st, 1960. The local television station was founded by the American Gerald Bartell, and was partially funded by the local government. Bartell founded TeleCuraçao as a commercial Television station, which had to generate its revenues from program sponsors.Most of the programming at that time consisted of American TV series. Today, more than 60 percent of TeleCuraçao's programming consists of locally produced programs.MissionTeleCuraçao's mission is to produce quality, commercial television without losing perspective of the general interest, while also offering optimum service to ensure a profit, hereby guaranteeing the longivity of the station.VisionTeleCuraçao's vision is to become the largest and best television station based on the Papiamento language, while also reaching a world-wide audience.Aside from offering the possibility of commercial space and airtime to local independent producers, TeleCuraçao also provides the services of it's studios and recording and editing facilities.
