TeraVision was created to bring THz expertise and enabling technologies developed at the University of Arizona (U of A) to market.The terahertz (1THz = 1000 GHz = 1012 Hertz) region of the electromagnetic spectrum is located between infrared waves on one end, and microwaves on the other. Like infrared (IR) radiation terahertz waves travel in line of sight and can be readily imaged. THz waves share with microwaves the ability to penetrate a wide variety of non-conducting materials. They can pass through clothing, paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, ceramics, masonry (TeraVision has measured transmission through several inch thick bricks).
