Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System Details
TIFMAS, the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, is an all-hazard emergency response and assistance organization in the State of Texas. Created through State legislation, TIFMAS is responsible for coordinating the delivery of mutual aid assets in Texas. TIFMAS coordinates response to wildlfires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and other large-scale events. TIFMAS is comprised of firefighters representing fire departments across Texas. TIFMAS provides certification and credentialing services, training, apparatus and equipment placement and overhead support. TIFMAS is coordinated by local fire chiefs in coordination with the Texas A&M Forest Service. When deployed, TIFMAS resources serve as assets of the State of Texas.
