The student chapter provides opportunities for civil engineering students to learn about ASCE and the profession of civil engineering. At each general meeting, a guest speaker from a local civil or construction company shares their projects and experiences with our members.Regionally and nationally, our students attend professional conferences such as CECon and the Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders, and participate in two primary competitions: Concrete Canoe and Timber Bridge. Each team serves as an important opportunity to work together while applying classroom principles to real-world situations. Experience is gained in planning, technical design, construction techniques, project budgeting, and most importantly, leadership and peer communication.
