VISION To foster cooler, greener forested communities throughout Texas. GOALS To develop educational programs that encourage proactive stewardship and stimulate interest in community forests. To foster the exchange of ideas, accomplishments and challenges. To champion well-managed community forests and enhance public awareness of their importance. To be a well-run, fiscally-sound organization that effectively accomplishes its mission. TUFC ROOTSThe Texas Urban Forestry Council is a statewide nonprofit organization that has been incorporated since 1990. TUFC obtained its 501 (c)(3) status in 1991 and is governed by a 14-member Board of Directors. Our members include representatives of city, county, and state governments; local nonprofit organizations; universities; private foresters; arborists; nurserymen; landscape architects; and interested individuals from across the state. The Council plays a vital role in statewide community forestry by providing support to its members and affiliates through education, networking and special projects. Our annual meeting provides an opportunity for exchanging ideas and information and brings people together from vastly different regions of the state. Quarterly newsletters, our website, and an annual report help keep members informed of activities and issues. In addition, our annual meeting provides a unique opportunity for education and networking.
