Thames River Innovation Place (TRIP) is an unprecedented alliance of public, private, and nonprofit sectors in the communities of New London and Groton in Southeastern Connecticut. The focus of TRIP is collaboration among the community to design a blueprint for the future of the Thames River Communities. This approach integrates education, policy, entrepreneurialism, investment and fosters a pride in community and identity. Supported by CTNext, TRIP places a focus on innovation through collaboration rather than focus on individual innovations. TRIP currently consists of five different programs.Ignite: Sparks ideas, businesses, and innovative growth in the Thames River region by producing events, sponsoring education, and connecting entrepreneurs with a business development support system.Cultivator Kitchen: This program gives restauranteurs the support, infrastructure, and education that will bring business plans and ideas to the next level, allowing restauranteurs the ability to take their ideas and test them in a real setting.Community Concierge: is eastern Connecticut's 21st-century ‘Welcome Wagon.' It is a comprehensive tool for new arrivals to become acquainted with living, working, and playing in New London, Groton, and beyond.Placemaking Redevelopment: By strengthening the connection between our two communities—Groton and New London—and taking steps to dramatically redevelop key neighborhoods, we can create a stronger, more stable sense of place and connectivity.Connecticut Naval Undersea Supply Chain Consortium: Works to build a network of companies that collectively address challenges, shares solutions, collaborates on opportunities and capitalizes on the growing national undersea business base.
